University Reaccreditation Office of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Records, 1993-1995

Since 1957, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has required the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and other member institutions to conduct periodic, formal self-studies as part of the process of accreditation by the Association. In 1993, with the creation of the Self-Study Steering Committee, the University began a process that ended in 1995 with the publication of a lengthy self-study report and a visit by the Southern Association's Reaffirmation Committee. The University Reaccreditation Office was established to provide clerical and administrative support to the Steering Committee and its task forces; it was disbanded at the conclusion of the self-study. Records include correspondence and other materials relating to the University's 1993-1995 self-study, including files of the task forces appointed to study the various aspects of the University's programs and services. Also included are the report of the Reaffirmation Committee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the University's self-study report with numerous supporting documents.
